The Combat Athlete’s Vicious Cycle

When fighters prepare for a fight, they ravage their bodies:
  • Sparring.
  • ​​Trying to squeeze every bit of explosiveness out of their muscles
  • ​Training multiple times per day
  • ​All while trying to cut weight
They would fight, take a long lay off, and do it all over again.
It was almost a fruitless battle.

Many other fighters find themselves in the same boat as them

Unable to train optimally, or recover, when it matters most.

Eventually this cycle of beating down their bodies leading up to a fight catches up with them, and a few things happen:
  • They don’t have a general base of fitness to handle the stress of training camp
  • They lack movement proficiency which takes away from their training results
  • ​They quickly shed their armor (muscle) in camp, which drains their performance
  • ​They can’t optimally recover
  • ​By the time they’re in the octagon, their nervous system is shot, and they’re exhausted
